PIESHA DOES IT AGAIN, AND AGAIN.........

Many may have been following the academic and talent successes of a young girl from the village of Bethesda who has made outstanding strides in her community as well as nationally. Few, however, would have doubted the outcome of the "Queen of the Forms" Competition that was held at the Antigua Girls’ High School on Saturday, 4th December, 2004.
From a field of four other talented, graceful 13-year-olds, Piesha Paul snatched the coveted title of Queen of the Forms.

The competition featured the young ladies appearing in three segments, namely talent, evening wear and question & answer. The other representatives from Forms 2 and 3 were Fidele Mitchell, Shaunette Sobers, Arlette Chastanet, Brittany Murraine.

The remarkable thing is that Piesha, who was born blind, appeared onstage ever bit as confident and pretty as the other young ladies vying for the title. The confident young lady had stated earlier on that she was going to “take home the crown.” And did she ever! This is the first time that a visually impaired young lady has won the title of Queen of the Forms at the Antigua Girls High School.

Piesha won ‘Best Talent’ for her musical selection which included playing 3 instruments - the recorder on which she played ‘Silent Night’; the keyboard from which she turned out the tune Amazing Grace; and the steel pan on which she outdid herself with a rendition of Everybody Ought to Know.

Piesha wowed the crowd in the ‘Question & Answer’ segment in which she stated boldly that if she were to make a choice between having riches or wisdom, she would choose the latter because with wisdom she could become educated that would help her to obtain riches!

Piesha, at 12 years old representing for Form 1 J was the youngest and shortest of the group of girls.  Piesha is the first girl of her parents Pius and Colleen Paul, and big sister to 2˝-year-old Tishel Paul.

Prizes included a trip for 2 to St. Kitts that Piesha won and gift vouchers.
As if that was not enough, and obviously it wasn't, Piesha went on to win the Bank of Antigua Ltd. Christmas Postcard Competition in December 2004 in the 12-15 year old category. A display of her winning postcard will be featured here shortly.
Keep watching for more developments from this talented teenager!  UPDATE!!
